What topics should we explore in upcoming staff meetings/delayed starts?

I would enjoy using the time for mapping the next month of curriculum and also discussing in more detail vertical articulation. I would also like to discuss how to help improve AYP scores.

For delayed starts - I believe that we need to have specific discussions on AYP and how to build upon learning within the standards. This discussion needs to happen vertically from grade level to grade level. During Staff Meetings, we need to discuss the more detailed plans for the up and coming month, quarter so that teachers can plan ahead to use instructional time and grade level planning time in a more meaningful way.

I think focus on AYP is also important.
Ideas for the last delayed start: Share thoughts on each others essential questions; the group that went to the vocab. workshop could share what they learned or others could share info. about how to use/present vocab. since that has been such a focus.

I like the idea of using delayed start for content meetings. I think there should be a focus for the content teams for each delayed start though, and we should know what that is so that we can bring materials/ideas. Even if the topic for the next delayed start is decided by that team at the end of the current delayed start. I think it would be helpful if the goals were content specific. For example one could be on vocab in science, different strategies for hands on activities (management ideas), Assessment standards, Or even having a specific topic when talking about vertical articulation (ex: life science). These are just ideas off the top of my head.

If the delayed start is used to map the next month of curriculum I think it is important to realize that some teachers will be working by themselves if they are compartmentalized.

I was wondering where Academic Choice fits in to delayed starts, staff meetings, and content team meetings?????
